There’s a Cool Breeze blowing and it’s just what YOU need…

July 14, 2011

COOL BREEZE

She’s from the VINTAGE Collection. 1979. The oldest of all. I kept it tucked inside the layout paper pad on my drawing table at work and completed her on the sneaky. My first real job after graduation, I was a layout artist for a small neighborhood department store on the wrong side of town.  I was happy to have the job of course but, you know…anyplace not DOWNtown was the wrong side of town.

It was summer and the focus was on perfecting the flow of the fabric, the curves and swoop of the skirt. Revealing just enough—but not too much— while keeping it fresh and airy and light. Like a cool, cool breeze. Imagine it. Feels great, doesn’t it? When the temp hits 98, like yesterday, it’s just what you need!

Keep it breezy, Sugar. Join us in The Gallery.

A Closer Look—A Big Surprise

July 6, 2011

LIPS AND LASHES

Black and white. Positive vs. negative. Which is which? The fascination never ends. Look closely at the ladies of the Black & White Collection. The skin appears white because the paper is white. But look at their nose, their lips, the hair. Who do you see?

Just a small statement. Never accept anything at first glance. Looking a little closer can reveal intriguing surprises.

June 30, 2011

MIRRORS SOMETIMES LIE

Now, it’s a fact.

Mirrors DO sometimes lie, sugar.

But a showstopping chapeau and opera length gloves—times two?

That’s the absolute truth!

Sheer Magic

June 15, 2011

She’s FLOW. In puffed sleeves. Cut on the bias. The satin gloves, tassled evening bag and strappy shoes scream post-Victorian. But the screaming doesn’t stop there! She’s scandalous, isn’t she? The dress just flows across her body, gathering at the hem. The folds get pretty busy down there but they’re not bunchy. The feel of it remains gauzy and light. That was the challenge while working on this piece. It was my first summer in Atlanta and fantasies of only good things to come coursed through me like a bubbling stream. The goal was to keep it airy and just let it flow. Can you feel it?

She’s in The Gallery.

KISS ME

June 1, 2011

I love the snapcracklepop of this white dress. Don’t you? The way it leaps right off of the gray charcoal board, you can spot it clear across a room. The lights and darks and her lean and sexy heat makes this one of my favs in the Gallery. That and the fact that rendering her lace bodice and hem was no joke. Those dress folds stood between me and my pillow many a night, too. But it was all a part of the challenge. As with anything we set out to do, whether it’s writing a book, finishing school or overcoming some tired old habit. It won’t be easy. There may be some late nights. You know this. But that doesn’t stop you.

Is it hot where you are? It’s HOT where she is. Can’t you tell? Men tend to like this piece, too. That’s why she’s called KISS ME.

Make it an Event!

May 25, 2011

Planning a fun and festive occasion for your crew of devastating divas? Start the ball rolling with a charming throwback—invitation cards received in the mail. But please. A dusty box of fill-in-the-blank cards from the corner drug store is as stale as day-old coffee. Set the tone for a wonderful time by sending a card with a handwritten invitation. (Have we forgotten how? Take a peek at The Party Invitation for a quick refresher.) There’s no better way to show your guests just how special they—and you—truly are.

PURE FASHION COLLECTION

Are you hosting a bachelorette party? An evening with your theater group? A soiree for your sorority sisters in town for the weekend? A spa day for your overworked staff? Select the perfect collection of FASHION+ART note cards to send and make your event a stand-out. Raise the bar. Be the hostess with the absolute most-est. It’s all in the little details, sugar. And it begins with a fabu invitation.

We’ll see you in the Gallery

Presenting…Our New NOTE CARDS!

May 19, 2011

Here they are—just for you! The most fashionable little note cards you’ve ever seen! Need invites for that snazzy patio party you’re planning next month? Well, look no further. Your bestie’s big birthday bash? Just take your pick. Do you run with a group of movers and shakers and congrats are often in order? Extend your kudos with style. Our Gallery prints as note cards are just as fierce as their big sisters. We know you’re gonna eat these up!

We broke them into sets. Each set is a full collection of our prints. The Vintage Collection, Pencils, Solitaires, Digital Collection and Black & White Collection each have six cards. The Croquis Collection has seven cards and Pure Fashion has eight.

Packaged in a nifty pouch of clear cellophane and tied with a simple white ribbon, they’re very easy on the wallet so stock up! Keep several sets on hand for birthdays, thank yous or staying in touch. You never know when you’ll need a splendidly killer card. Or a chic little gift!

The FASHION+ART Online Gallery is always open. Just click on NOTE CARDS in the menu. And because you are my very special friends, I’ve got a little something extra for you. The first ten who order 3 or more sets will receive as a special gift the 4 cards featured in last weeks’ post. Remember?

That’s pretty rich, don’t you think? It’s just our way of saying thank you.
